PSI Medical Statistics Student Careers Event (EVENT324)

​Overview

The PSI Medical Statistics Careers Event is an annual event for students to find out more about the field of medical statistics, talk to people from different organisations and make contacts for the future. All students currently studying for a mathematics or statistics-related BSc, MSc or PhD are invited to attend.

This year the event takes place at the beautiful Cutlers' Hall in Sheffield, just over a 10 minute walk from Sheffield station which can be reached in 2 hours from London, less than an hour from Leeds, Manchester and Leicester, and under 3 hours from Bristol.

The event starts with lunch on arrival. Then we have a series of talks including: an introduction to the industry and what PSI can offer you as you start your career; a presentation from someone who has recently started a career as a medical statistician; a Q&A session with a panel covering a range of roles and experience levels. Following that we have an exhibition session with 20+ organisations represented covering pharmaceutical companies, clinical trials units, contract research organisations and universities, including further study opportunities.

Who is this event intended for? Undergraduate and Postgraduate students intending to pursue a career in medical statistics.

What is the benefit of attending? An opportunity to meet statisticians from across the pharmaceutical industry in a relaxed and informal setting.

Travel

Student travel expenses within the UK will be reimbursed following the event. An expense form will be provided for you to complete. Please ensure you keep original receipts for your incurred travel costs to be reimbursed.

Please note: PSI is non-profit making and as a principle does not pay an honorarium. As a guide, travel expenses would normally be second class rail fare. In complex cases, you are advised to discuss expenses with the PSI contact before incurring them.
