PSI Medical Statistics Student Careers Event 2024

​Overview

The PSI Medical Statistics Careers Event is an annual event for students to find out more about the field of medical statistics, talk to people from different organisations and make contacts for the future. All students currently studying for a mathematics or statistics-related BSc, MSc or PhD are invited to attend.

This year the event takes place in London, at Yeomanry House, Handel Street, a short walk from Russell Square tube station and just over a ten minute walk from mainline stations Euston and Kings Cross.

The event consists of a series of talks including: an introduction to the industry and what PSI can offer you as you start your career; a presentation from someone who has recently started a career as a medical statistician; a Q&A session with a panel covering a range of roles and experience levels. Following that we have an exhibition session with 20+ organisations represented covering pharmaceutical companies, clinical trials units, contract research organisations and universities, including further study opportunities.

Who is this event intended for? Undergraduate and Postgraduate students intending to pursue a career in medical statistics. Note that interested graduates who have not yet started working in the industry may also be eligible to attend and should contact the organisers.

What is the benefit of attending? Learn more about a career in medical statistics from people with a range of medical statistics roles. Gain tips for making the next step in your career. Meet people from a variety of pharmaceutical companies, clinical trials units, contract research organisations (CROs) and universities and learn about possible career options.

Travel

We aim to provide a contribution towards student travel expenses within the UK. However, as PSI is a not-for-profit organisation to manage our costs travel expenses will be reimbursed according to the following policy: the first £10 will not be reimbursed; railcards should be used if they reduce the price of the ticket and advanced tickets should be chosen where they exist. Please keep proof of purchase in order to claim for reimbursement. In complex cases, you are advised to discuss expenses with the PSI contact before incurring them. If you don't have a railcard and are planning to travel by train please get in touch before booking to discuss whether you can be reimbursed.
